Het verhaal
De wervelende productie ‘Sun Records – The Concert’ vertelt het verhaal van de ‘Memphis Recording Service’ oftewel: Sun Studio te Memphis, Tennessee. Deze plek wordt gezien als de absolute bakermat van de rock-‘n-roll en hedendaagse muziek. Onder de bezielende leiding van oprichter en eigenaar Sam Philips wist deze kleine studio met platenlabel zich wereldwijde faam te vergaren. Sam trok zich niets aan van de apartheid in Amerika en was wild van de overwegend donkere ‘rhythm & blues’. Hij was op zoek naar vernieuwing in de muziek en nam veelal artiesten op die buiten Memphis werden geboycot door de mainstream radiostations en platenwinkels. Philips hield vol en mag zich daardoor de ontdekker noemen van heel veel muzikale grootheden, waaronder B.B. King, Howling Wolf, Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash, Rufus Thomas, Roy Orbison, Jerry Lee Lewis en last but not least Elvis Presley.
‘Sun Records – The Concert’ laat de gouden tijden van Sun Records weer tot leven komen in het theater. Deze zeer authentiek geproduceerde productie mag zich dan ook presenteren als de enige productie ter wereld (!) met officiële toestemming vanuit Sun Records, Memphis, Tennessee. Een zeer getalenteerde, jonge cast zingt en speelt met verve alle grote artiesten van Sun Records en hun bijbehorende wereldhits!

The music of the legendary Sun Record label, that represented Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison, Carl Perkins and Rufus Thomas and other rockin’ pioneers, is revived live on stage.
Enjoy the sound of the blessed recording studio where the music we know and love today was crafted from gospel, blues, hillbilly, country, boogie and western swing by musical visionary Sam Phillips. His trail blazing Memphis studio produced for example ‘That’s All Right’, ‘Great Balls of Fire’, ‘I Walk the Line’, ‘Whole Lotta Shakin’, ‘Bear Cat’, ‘Blue Suede Shoes’, ‘Good Rocking Tonight’...hundreds of hits that would influence the world of music for generations to come.
Sam Phillips was a patient, honest man and a perpetual optimist. In 1954 he brought a modest 19- year-old Elvis Presley together with musicians Scotty Moore, Bill Black and DJ Fontana to create music that infused country with rhythm and blues. It transcended musical and racial barriers. The ‘Sun Sound’ was born.
The show will be performed in a replica of the Sun Studios, featuring the musical instruments of that era, amazing musicians; the sound of Sun revives live on stage in the official concert and will take you back to the birthplace of rock’n’roll.
